In moving Saskatchewan forward, our government understands that convenience and security are very important to the people of this province. That’s why our government, with the help of SGI, unveiled the new one part multi-year driver’s licence. Starting January 2011, the new licences can be renewed for a five year term, which adds convenience as individuals will only have to return to their motor licence issuer upon the end of their term to have their photo updated. Drivers will also have the option of paying $25 per year on an annual basis for five years or they can pay for the entire five years up front for a fee of $100. This change to a one part driver’s licence brings Saskatchewan in line with other jurisdictions across Canada. In addition to being reflective of Saskatchewan’s diverse landscape, the new licence has many security features that meet international standards similar to those used on passports and Canadian currency.

With snow plow operators hitting highways across the province, our government would like to remind motorists to be extra careful this winter and throughout the holiday season. Snow plows will be busy removing snow and treating ice on the province's 26,000 km of roads. These plows can create a mini blizzard that sometimes obscures the machine from sight. If you come upon a sudden whiteout, it could simply be a plow working up ahead, so we ask motorists to stay back and stay safe, giving the snow plow room to work.
